Who sells 7 inch pizzas?
A 7 inch pizza is a single serving. It turns up on kids menus, lunch deals and meal-for-one offers, and it is the size most pubs choose when pizza is one dish among many.
Street food vans and market stalls like it too. A 7 inch base bakes quickly in a wood-fired oven, so the queue keeps moving and each customer walks away with a box that sits flat on one hand.
- Kids menus with a pizza, a drink and a small side
- Lunch deals for office workers who want one pizza each
- Pub kitchens adding pizza to a short food menu
- Market stalls and vans selling personal pizzas to eat standing up
- Dark kitchens running a meal-for-one range
If your menu runs from 7 inch up to 16 inch, this is the smallest square box in the set.
What size box does a 7 inch pizza need?
A 7 inch (178 mm) pizza goes in a box measuring 7.25 x 7.25 x 1.75 in (184 x 184 x 44 mm) inside. That leaves a quarter inch around the crust, enough to slide the pizza in without catching the edge.
The 1.75 in depth clears a normal topping and gives steam room to rise off the cheese before it meets the lid. Deep pan bases need a deeper box, made to the size you send.
| Pizza | Box (inside) | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| 7 inch (178 mm) | 7.25 x 7.25 x 1.75 in (184 x 184 x 44 mm) | Personal pizza, kids meal |
| 9 inch (229 mm) | 9.25 x 9.25 x 1.75 in (235 x 235 x 44 mm) | Small pizza for one adult |
| 10 inch (254 mm) | 10.25 x 10.25 x 1.75 in (260 x 260 x 44 mm) | Small to medium pizza |
The full chart, from 7 inch to 16 inch, sits in our guide to pizza box sizes in inches and mm.
Which board suits a 7 inch pizza box?
E-flute, at about 1.5 mm, suits most 7 inch boxes. A small pizza is light, the lid only spans a short gap, and the thinner wall folds into a crisp, square corner.
B-flute, at about 3 mm, is the board we steer customers towards for 14 and 16 inch delivery, where a wide lid has to stay flat in a bag. On a box this small it is rarely needed.
Pick B-flute for the 7 inch box only if it travels a long way or rides under other boxes for most of the trip. The thicker wall holds heat a little longer than E-flute. Our E-flute vs B-flute comparison sets the two side by side.
What prints well on a 7 inch lid?
You can print the lid, the four sides and the inside of the lid, in one colour, two colours or full colour. Plain boxes need no artwork at all, and matt or gloss varnish can go on top.
White board shows full colour bright and clean, like the coloured sides in the second photo. Brown kraft gives a warmer look, and one-colour black or red reads well on it, as the kraft boxes in the first photo show with their printed front panels.
The lid is only just over 7 inches across, so keep the logo large and the words few. A colouring panel inside the lid suits a kids menu. Send your logo through Design Your Pizza Box for a free proof on the 7 inch template.
Does a small box need steam vents?
A hot 7 inch pizza gives off less steam than a big one, but the box is small, so the air inside fills fast. Side vents cut into the front and back walls let that steam out before it softens the base.
Keep the lid shut on the counter. Lifting it to check the pizza lets heat out, and the vents handle the steam on their own.
If oil marks the board on a cheese-heavy pizza, a corrugated liner sits between the base and the board and takes up oil.
How does the 7 inch box fold and lock?
Each box arrives as one flat piece of board. Once your staff have folded a dozen, each one takes a few seconds.
- Lay the flat box print side down with the front flap nearest you.
- Fold up the back wall and the two side walls along the creases.
- Fold the corner ears inwards so they sit against the front edge.
- Fold the front wall up over the ears to lock the corners in place.
- Bring the small lid over and tuck its front flap down behind the front wall so the 7 inch box stays shut.
The tuck-in flap holds the lid shut without tape or glue. It opens cleanly when the customer lifts the front, and the thumb notch on the front panel gives a finger somewhere to grip.
How do 7 inch boxes arrive, and how do you stack them beside the oven?
Boxes come flat and bundled, by free tracked UK mainland delivery in 2 to 3 working days. Flat 7 inch boxes take up very little shelf space, which matters in a van or a small pub kitchen.
Fold a short pile before service and keep the rest flat on a dry shelf. Folded boxes stack square on top of each other, so a tower of ready boxes fits on the corner of the pass.
Keep them away from the dishwasher and the prep sink. Damp board loses its shape and the tuck-in flap stops holding.
How many 7 inch boxes fit in a delivery bag?
A bag built for 16 inch boxes holds two 7 inch boxes side by side on each layer. Four layers high, that is eight personal pizzas in one bag, which suits a kids party or an office lunch order.
Stack small boxes only on boxes of the same size. A 7 inch box placed on a 12 inch lid presses a dent into its centre and slides when the driver turns a corner.
Pack the bag tight so the boxes cannot shift, and our notes on keeping pizza hot and crisp in delivery cover the rest of the trip.
How is a 7 inch pizza cut for the box?
Most kitchens cut a 7 inch pizza into four slices. Four is easy for small hands, and each slice stays wide enough not to flop.
Use a rocker blade or a wheel, and cut on the peel or a board before boxing, not inside the box. A wheel run inside the box scores the base board and can split it along the fold.
Some pubs cut the kids pizza into thin fingers instead. Either way, the quarter inch gap around the crust is still there after cutting, so the slices drop in without touching the walls.
Mistakes to avoid with 7 inch boxes
Most problems with small boxes start with the size chart, not the board.
- Ordering 7 inch boxes for a pizza that bakes out wider. Measure a cooked base, not the dough ball.
- Choosing B-flute for every size. On the small box, E-flute folds neater and takes less shelf space.
- Packing a deep pan base in a 1.75 in box. Ask for a deeper box made to size.
- Fitting tiny type on the lid. Text that reads well on a 16 inch lid is too small here.
- Cutting inside the box with a wheel, which scores the board.

7 Inch Pizza Boxes questions
What are the inside measurements of your 7 Inch Pizza Boxes?
They measure 7.25 x 7.25 x 1.75 in (184 x 184 x 44 mm) inside. That gives a 7 inch (178 mm) pizza a quarter inch of room all round.
Will a pizza that bakes out wider than 7 inches fit in the 7 inch box?
No, it will catch on the walls and bend at the crust. Order the 9 inch box, or ask us to make a box to the size you send.
Is E-flute enough for 7 Inch Pizza Boxes on delivery?
For most delivery runs, yes, because a 7 inch pizza is light and the lid span is short. Choose B-flute if the boxes travel far or ride under others for the whole trip.
Why do you suggest B-flute for 14 and 16 inch boxes but not the 7 inch?
A wide lid needs the thicker wall to stay flat in a bag. On a 7 inch box the span is short enough that E-flute keeps its shape.
How many 7 inch boxes fit in one delivery bag?
A bag built for 16 inch boxes takes two 7 inch boxes side by side on each layer. Four layers high, that is eight personal pizzas.
Can I print a colouring page inside the lid of a 7 inch kids menu box?
Yes. Inside-the-lid print is an option on both boards, and a simple line drawing in one colour works well for children.
Do 7 Inch Pizza Boxes come in brown kraft as well as white?
Yes, both. White shows full colour brighter, while brown kraft suits one or two colours and a plainer look.
How should a 7 inch pizza be cut before it goes in the box?
Four slices is usual, cut on the peel or a board before boxing. A wheel run inside the box can score the base board.
Can I put a liner under the pizza in a 7 inch box?
Yes. A corrugated pizza box liner cut to size sits between the base and the board and takes up oil.
Can side vents be added to 7 Inch Pizza Boxes?
Yes, vents can be cut into the front and back walls. They let steam out of the small space before it softens the base.
Can I order 7 Inch Pizza Boxes alongside other sizes?
Yes. Tell us how many of each size you need and we price the whole order in one email reply.
Do 7 inch boxes suit a market stall with little counter space?
Yes. They store flat in a small crate and fold in seconds, so you can fold a few at a time between bakes.
