Standard pizza box sizes, 7 to 16 inch
Every standard box is 1.75 in (44 mm) deep inside. Sizes are inside measurements, length x width x depth.

How do you measure your pizza bases?
Measure a cooked pizza, not the dough ball. Bases spread in the oven, and a wood-fired crust can puff past the size you stretched it to.
Lay a ruler across the widest point, crust to crust, on three or four pizzas from a busy shift. Take the largest reading, then match it to the chart above.
- Round to the nearest inch your menu uses
- If bases come out between sizes, go up a size
- Check the peel or screen you bake on, since it limits the size
- Measure each menu size separately

What box do you need for deep pan pizza?
A standard box gives thin and classic bases 1.75 in (44 mm) of headroom, which is plenty for them. A deep pan or heavily topped pizza can touch the lid, which marks the print and flattens the cheese.
For those, we make deeper boxes to the size you send. Measure the tallest point of the baked pizza and add a little headroom. B-flute suits deeper boxes, as the thicker wall holds its shape better when boxes are stacked. Compare E-flute vs B-flute pizza boxes before you choose.
How are round pizza boxes sized?
Round and eight-sided boxes are sized by pizza diameter. Measure across the pizza through the centre, and give that figure when you ask for a quote.
A round box hugs the pizza, with no empty corners. That stops the pizza sliding about when the box is carried flat. See round pizza boxes for the shapes we make.
Long boxes for calzone and flatbread, made to size
Calzone, flatbread and long sharing pizzas do not fit a square box. We make long, shallow boxes to the length, width and depth you send.
Measure the longest item on your menu after baking, and tell us if two calzone go side by side. Leave a little room at each end so the crust does not catch as it slides in. Our calzone and flatbread boxes show the style.
Questions
What is the extra quarter inch on each pizza box size for?
The extra quarter inch lets the pizza slide in without the crust catching on the walls. It is small enough that the pizza stays put on the way.
Are the sizes on the chart inside or outside measurements?
They are inside measurements, so they describe the space the pizza sits in. The outside is slightly larger because of the board thickness.
Is a 1.75 in deep box enough for most pizzas?
Yes, for thin, classic and most stuffed crust bases. Deep pan and heavily topped pizzas may need a deeper box made to size.
How do I convert my pizza size from cm to inches?
Divide the centimetres by 2.54. A 30 cm pizza is just under 12 inch, so a 12 inch box suits it.
Should I size the box to the dough ball or the baked pizza?
Always the baked pizza. Bases spread in the oven, so measuring the dough gives you a box that is too small.
What if my pizza falls between two standard sizes?
Go up to the next size, or send your measurement and we quote a box made to size. A box that is too tight squashes the crust.
Can one box size work for two menu sizes?
It can for a small gap, such as a 9 inch pizza in a 10 inch box, but the pizza will slide. Most shops order a box for each size they sell.
Does the box size include the lid and flaps?
No. The figures describe the inside of the base. The lid and tuck-in flaps fold around that space.
How do I give measurements for a box made to size?
Send the inside length, width and depth you need, in inches or millimetres. Allow a little room on each side of the baked food.
Do stuffed crust pizzas need a different box size?
Measure a baked stuffed crust pizza, as the edge can sit higher and wider. If it touches the lid in a standard box, ask for a deeper one.
