Which pizza box sizes do you make?
We make six standard square boxes, one for each common UK takeaway pizza. Each box is a quarter inch wider than the pizza and 1.75 in deep.
That gap lets the crust sit clear of the walls without sliding about. Full measurements sit in our guide to pizza box sizes in mm.
| Pizza size | Box size | Typical order |
|---|---|---|
| 7 inch (178 mm) | 7.25 x 7.25 x 1.75 in (184 x 184 x 44 mm) | Kids' meals, lunch deals, a single small |
| 9 inch (229 mm) | 9.25 x 9.25 x 1.75 in (235 x 235 x 44 mm) | Personal pizza, bar food, meal deals |
| 10 inch (254 mm) | 10.25 x 10.25 x 1.75 in (260 x 260 x 44 mm) | The small on many takeaway menus |
| 12 inch (305 mm) | 12.25 x 12.25 x 1.75 in (311 x 311 x 44 mm) | The medium, often the most ordered |
| 14 inch (356 mm) | 14.25 x 14.25 x 1.75 in (362 x 362 x 44 mm) | A large for two or three people |
| 16 inch (406 mm) | 16.25 x 16.25 x 1.75 in (413 x 413 x 44 mm) | Extra large, sharing and party orders |
Deeper boxes for deep pan, and any size outside this table, are made to the measurements you send.
How do you pick the right box for your pizza?
Measure the baked pizza, not the dough ball. Dough spreads in the oven, and a base can come out a little wider on a hot deck.
- Bake three pizzas of the size you sell and measure each one across the widest point.
- Take the largest figure and match it to the nearest standard size.
- Check the topping height against the 1.75 in depth, especially for loaded pizzas.
- Order the box that matches the size on your menu, not the next size up.
A box that is too big lets the pizza slide into one corner on the drive. A box that is too tight squashes the crust edge and smears cheese on the lid.
Comparing the six sizes side by side
Each size does a different job on the menu. Here is how they line up in a working kitchen.
- 7 Inch Pizza Boxes: small enough for a kids' meal or a quick lunch, and a short pile fits beside the till.
- 9 Inch Pizza Boxes: a personal pizza for one, handy for market stalls and pubs serving bar food.
- 10 Inch Pizza Boxes: the small on many takeaway menus and a common pick for meal deals.
- 12 Inch Pizza Boxes: the medium that many menus are built around, with room for a full lid print.
- 14 Inch Pizza Boxes: a large for two or three people, where B-flute starts to earn its place.
- 16 Inch Pizza Boxes: the extra large for sharing, best in B-flute so the wide lid stays flat.
Many shops run three sizes, such as 10, 12 and 14 inch. If you are unsure where to begin, start with our 12 inch pizza boxes page.
Should each size be E-flute or B-flute?
Across all six sizes, you can pick E-flute at about 1.5 mm thick or the sturdier B-flute at about 3 mm. Both come in white or brown kraft.
On the 7, 9 and 10 inch boxes, E-flute is usually enough. The span is short, so the lid stays flat and the folds come out crisp.
From 12 inch upwards, B-flute is the safer choice. The wider lid needs the thicker wall to stay flat, and B-flute holds heat a little longer than E-flute.
Our E-flute vs B-flute comparison guide covers the trade-offs in more detail.
Can every size carry your logo?
Yes. Every size can be plain, one colour, two colours or full colour, on the lid, the sides or inside the lid. Matt or gloss varnish is an option too.
One-colour red on brown kraft reads clearly on a small 7 inch lid. A 16 inch lid has room for a full menu, a phone number and a repeating pattern.
One artwork can be scaled to fit every lid you order. Each size gets a free design proof, and nothing is printed until you approve it. See our custom printed pizza boxes in every size.
How do the boxes fold, lock and stack?
Every size arrives flat and packed by size. The base folds up, the side walls lock in, and the lid closes with tuck-in flaps at the front.
Side vents can be added to let steam out, so the base stays crisp rather than soft. They matter more on the larger sizes, where there is more pizza giving off steam.
Flat boxes stack beside the oven in one pile per size. A driver can stack four closed boxes in a bag, with the largest at the bottom.
Which sizes should a new pizza menu start with?
Start with the sizes you actually bake. A food van with one oven might sell only 9 and 12 inch, while a dark kitchen may need all six.
Low minimums are quoted per job, so a small run of a slower size can sit alongside your main ones. That keeps shelf space free for the boxes you use fastest.
A common split is plain boxes for the quiet sizes and printed boxes for the busy ones.
How do I order boxes in more than one size?
Send us the sizes, board, colour and print for each box in one message. We reply by email within one working day with a quote covering every size.
After you approve the free design proof, production takes 4 to 6 working days. Every size in your order then travels on free tracked delivery, reaching UK mainland addresses in 2 to 3 working days.
Prices start from £0.25 a box, depending on size and print. Ask for yours through our pizza box quote request form.
Pizza Boxes by Size questions
How big are your 12 Inch Pizza Boxes inside?
They measure 12.25 x 12.25 x 1.75 in (311 x 311 x 44 mm). That leaves a quarter inch around a 12 inch (305 mm) pizza.
Are 7 Inch Pizza Boxes deep enough for a loaded topping?
They are 1.75 in (44 mm) deep, the same as every standard size. If your toppings sit higher, we can make a deeper box to the size you send.
Can I mix sizes in one Pizza Boxes by Size order?
Yes. One quote can cover several sizes, each with its own board, colour and print.
Which board suits 16 Inch Pizza Boxes best?
B-flute is the usual choice. At 16.25 x 16.25 x 1.75 in (413 x 413 x 44 mm), the lid spans a long way, and the thicker wall helps it stay flat.
Do 9 Inch Pizza Boxes come in white and brown kraft?
Yes. Both colours are available in E-flute or B-flute, plain or printed.
Can the same logo go on 10 Inch Pizza Boxes and 14 Inch Pizza Boxes?
Yes. We scale one artwork to fit each lid and send a free design proof for every size before anything is printed.
Do you make sizes outside the Pizza Boxes by Size range?
Yes. Other square sizes, deeper boxes for deep pan and long boxes are made to the measurements you send, as are our calzone and flatbread boxes.
How do 14 Inch Pizza Boxes arrive?
They come flat and packed by size, ready to fold beside the oven. Delivery is free and tracked to UK mainland addresses in 2 to 3 working days.
What happens if my Pizza Boxes by Size order arrives misprinted?
Report any misprint or damage within 10 days. We reprint the boxes or refund you.
How long does production take for Pizza Boxes by Size?
Production takes 4 to 6 working days after you approve the free design proof. Delivery then follows in 2 to 3 working days.
