Printing Your Logo on a Pizza Box
This guide takes you from the logo file on your laptop to a printed box on the counter, covering artwork, colours, board and where the print goes. It also shows what the free proof lets you check before a single box is printed.

What artwork file should you send for a pizza box?
Send the file your logo was first drawn in. Ask your designer for the original, not a copy saved from your website or a menu photo.
Vector files print sharpest because the logo is stored as lines and curves, not dots. They stay crisp whether the logo is coin-sized on a side panel or fills a 16 inch lid.
If all you have is a picture file, send the largest version you can find. The proof will show how cleanly it prints.
- A PDF with the logo kept as vector shapes
- An EPS or SVG file from your designer
- A large PNG or JPG if no vector version exists
- Your brand colour references, if you use set shades
- Fonts turned into outlines, or the font names listed
Email or WhatsApp is fine for sending files. If you are unsure what you have, send it all and we will check it.
Vector or photo logo: which prints better on board?
A vector logo is built from shapes. Zoom in as far as you like and the edges stay clean, which suits flat ink on corrugated board.
A logo saved as a picture is made of tiny squares. Stretch it across a 14 inch lid and those squares show up as soft or jagged edges.
Photos still have a place on a box. A shot of your wood-fired oven or a hand-stretched base can look striking in full colour. Keep the logo itself as a vector and set the photo behind or beside it.
If your logo only exists as a picture, ask a designer to redraw it as vector shapes. It is a small job, and you will reuse the file on menus, signs and van livery.
How many colours should your pizza box print use?
Most takeaways start with one colour. A single ink on the lid, often black or a strong red, reads quickly and keeps the box simple.
Two colours give you the logo plus an accent for a phone number or a border. Full colour prints any shade, gradient or photo you supply.
| Print option | What it suits | How it looks |
|---|---|---|
| Plain | Market stalls, collection boxes, sticker or stamp branding | Bare white or brown board with no ink |
| One colour | A bold logo with a phone number | Solid ink with sharp edges, easy to read across a counter |
| Two colours | A logo with an accent shade or border | Two flat inks sitting side by side without blending |
| Full colour | Photos, gradients and detailed artwork | Every shade printed, at its best on white board |
Each option is priced on your quote, which arrives by email within one working day. Ask about matt or gloss varnish if you want a finish over the lid print.
How does ink look on white board and on brown kraft?
White board shows ink close to the colour on your screen. Reds stay red, yellows stay bright and photos keep their detail.
Brown kraft changes the picture. The board shows through the ink, so every colour prints darker and warmer. One-colour red on kraft becomes a deep brick shade, and pale yellow almost vanishes.
Black, navy and deep red hold up best on kraft. Light colours fade into the brown, so swap a pale logo for its dark version.
Plenty of pizzerias pick brown kraft pizza boxes with one-colour print for a rustic look. Choose white board when your logo depends on bright or light colours.
Lid, sides or inside the lid: where should your logo go?
The lid is the space everyone sees. It faces up on the counter, in the delivery bag and on the table at home, so your logo and name belong there first.
The sides show when boxes are stacked. A driver carrying four boxes in a bag, or a pile waiting on the pass, shows sides rather than lids. A phone number or web address works well there.
Inside the lid is the reveal. It appears the moment the box opens, right above the pizza. A thank-you line, a social handle or a reorder message fits nicely.
Our custom printed pizza boxes with full lid print can carry print on all three areas. Every area you choose appears on the proof, so you see the whole box at once.
How big should your logo be on a pizza box lid?
Size the logo to the lid, not to your screen. A 12 inch box measures 12.25 x 12.25 x 1.75 in (311 x 311 x 44 mm), which gives you a generous square.
A logo about half the lid width reads clearly from across a counter. It also leaves room for a phone number underneath.
Smaller boxes need simpler artwork. On a 7 inch box at 7.25 x 7.25 x 1.75 in (184 x 184 x 44 mm), a long strapline gets cramped, so keep to the logo and one line.
Standard side walls are 1.75 in (44 mm) deep, so side print works best as one line of text. If you order several sizes, one logo file is enough, and the proof shows it scaled to each box.
Bleed and safe area: keeping your logo clear of folds
A pizza box is printed flat, then cut and folded. The cut can shift very slightly from box to box, so artwork needs breathing room around every edge.
Bleed is extra background colour that runs past the cut line. If your lid has solid colour to the edge, bleed stops a thin strip of bare board appearing after cutting.
The safe area is the zone inside the edges and folds where text and logos belong. Keep phone numbers and small words there, so nothing is clipped.
Folds matter more on a pizza box than on a flyer. The lid hinge, the tuck-in flaps and the side walls all bend, and text laid across a crease can split along it.
For a clean background with no edge colour, white pizza boxes with a printed lid sidestep bleed entirely, because the board itself is the background.
What does the free proof show you before anything is printed?
The proof is a flat drawing of your box with your artwork placed on it. It is free, and nothing is printed until you approve it.
It shows the box size, board colour, logo position, print colours and the cut and fold lines. Check it as if you were the customer lifting the lid.
- Send your artwork, pizza size, board choice and print areas.
- Expect an emailed price for your logo-printed boxes within one working day.
- Check the free proof for spelling, colours, position and size.
- Reply with any changes, then check the updated proof.
- Approve it, and production takes 4 to 6 working days.
- Your boxes arrive by free tracked UK mainland delivery in 2 to 3 working days.
Read your phone number aloud from the proof and dial it once. One wrong digit across a whole run of boxes is the error owners regret most.
When your artwork is ready, ask for a quote by email and the proof follows.
Using the Design Your Pizza Box page
The Design Your Pizza Box page brings your choices into one place: pizza size, board colour, print option and where the logo goes.
Upload the best file you have. If it is a picture rather than a vector, add a short note so we know to check it closely before the proof.
Not sure about a choice? Leave it open and ask. We can talk it through on +44 7578 382054, on WhatsApp or at info@thepizzaboxes.co.uk.
Once your details arrive, your quote comes back by email within one working day.
Artwork mistakes to avoid on a pizza box
Tiny text is the most common problem. Corrugated board has ridges under its surface, so very fine letters lose their edges. Keep text large enough to read at arm's length.
Hairline borders and thin outlines can break up on E-flute and B-flute board alike. Thicken them or drop them.
Logos pushed against the edge get clipped. Keep them inside the safe area, well away from the hinge and the flaps.
Screens glow and board does not. A bright neon shade on your phone will look calmer in print, and darker again on kraft.
Leave out anything likely to date quickly, like a short-term offer or a temporary address. Your boxes will sit flat in the back for weeks before the last one is folded.
Questions this guide answers
Will a logo copied from my website print sharply on a pizza box lid?
Usually not at full lid size, because website images are small. Send the original vector file or the largest version you have, and the proof will show how it prints.
Is one-colour print on a pizza box priced differently from full colour?
Each print option is priced on your quote, so ask for both and compare. One colour suits a bold logo, while full colour suits photos and gradients.
Why does my red logo look darker on a brown kraft pizza box?
Kraft board shows through the ink, which deepens and warms every colour. Red turns towards brick, so check the proof on kraft before you approve it.
Can my logo go inside the pizza box lid as well as on top?
Yes, you can print on the lid, the sides and inside the lid. Each area you choose is shown on the free proof.
What happens if my pizza box artwork has no bleed?
A solid background colour may leave a thin strip of bare board at the cut edge. The proof marks the cut line, so you can see the risk before approving.
Can I change my pizza box design after seeing the proof?
Yes. Nothing is printed until you approve the proof, so reply with your changes and check the updated version.
How long after I approve my logo proof will the printed boxes arrive?
Production takes 4 to 6 working days after approval. Free tracked UK mainland delivery then takes 2 to 3 working days.
Can I print a photo of my pizzas on the box alongside my logo?
Yes, with full colour print, and it looks best on white board. Keep the logo as a vector so its edges stay sharp next to the photo.
What if my printed pizza boxes do not match the approved proof?
Report any misprint or damage within 10 days and the boxes are reprinted or refunded. The details are in our returns and reprints policy.
Can one logo file cover several pizza box sizes in the same order?
Yes, one good vector file is enough. The proof shows the logo scaled to each box, so you can check it fits from 7 inch up to 16 inch.
